Serang (Antara News Banten) - Thousands of residents, who were mostly mothers and students, crowded the sports arena (GOR) of Maulana Yusuf to await the arrival of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) in Serang on Wednesday.
The residents, including recipients of Hope Family Program (PKH), Smart Indonesia Program (PIP), and Non-Cash Food Assistance (BPNT), crowded the building to attend the event, which will be attended by Jokowi.
"Of course, I am excited to see the president closely," a resident, Sarmini, stated.
Before entering the building, the people must queue up through security checks (Paspampres). Some residents were even willing to stand inside the building to wait for the president, as there were no seats available.

Jokowi will start his visit to Serang from the Islamic Boarding School of An-Nawawi Tanara in Serang District, followed by the symbolic handover of PKH, PIP, and BPNT programs.
After this, the head of state is also scheduled to symbolically hand over land certificates to residents in Serang at the Sports Hall (GOR) of East Square, Serang.
Social Affairs Minister, Indrus Marham, remarked that the target of PKH program in Banten was to distribute an assistance of Rp605.91 billion to 320,410 beneficiaries (KPM) in 2018. The total number of recipients in Serang was 9,603 KPM, with a total assistance of Rp18.18 billion.
Marham noted that PKH in 2018 expanded from 6 million KPM to 10 million KPM nationally. The disbursement of the fund for Phase I was distributed to 9,576,843 KPM (96 percent), with total fund of Rp4.79 trillion, which was spread over 34 provinces and 514 districts/cities.
Meanwhile, BPNT program is a transformation of the Social Assistance of Food Rastra in Banten, which targeted 484,019 families, with a total assistance of Rp638,90 billion.
The PIP in Banten included 593,225 students, with assistance of Rp303,75 billion. Participants of PIP in Serang included 30,387 students, with a total assistance of Rp15,71 billion.
